Sahara Desert π Sahara Desert is the largest hot desert on the earth. It occupies an enormous area of the North African continent and cuts through such countries as Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and Sudan . The first thing that I heard about the Sahara in school was that I thought it was just an inexhaustible pool of sand. But it is much more than that. Yes, it has beautiful sand dunes of golden color resembling waves in the sea. However, there are also rocky mountains, dry valleys , as well as small regions with vegetation known as oases of the Sahara. The oases are also very significant as they supply water in the center of the dry land. Daytime in Sahara Desert is extremely hot but nights may be quite cold. Rain is very rare. Owing to this fact, only a few plants and animals are able to survive there.
